Who we are ?

SPMN NGO actively conducts a range of social welfare activities in and around Nagpur city, as well as in the Nagpur Gramin (rural) area. The organization primarily focuses on vocational training, education, clean drinking water, social development, plantation drives, and addressing hygienic health challenges in underprivileged and backward communities.
Key areas of work include:
Access to clean drinking water is a serious and recurring issue in slum areas, especially during the summer season. SPMN has been systematically addressing this challenge for the past 5–6 years. The NGO identifies and cleans river and Nallah (drainage) sources to ensure they remain protected and that water flows smoothly through these natural channels.
During the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown period, many students faced uncertainty. SPMN provided them with support through social media platforms, offering guidance and counselling to help them with proper school and college admissions.
The NGO also conducted several health awareness programs focused on COVID-19 prevention, cleanliness, and hygiene. Educational sessions on family planning and the importance of sanitary practices were carried out to raise community awareness.
Looking ahead, SPMN plans to expand its efforts through initiatives like:

Feature As
Plantation Work

Plantation work was carried out by the NGO from 01.06.2023 to 30.06.2024 in the PitesurNagpur Gramin area. Approximately 300 plants of different varieties were planted during the rainy season. These plants were maintained and protected from animals by placing M.S. cages around them.
COVID Awareness Camps

The lockdown because of the Covid-19 pandemic was the most difficult period for
dahaadi mazdoor and people from weaker sections. They were locked down in their
houses. After a few days of staying at home, they experienced a shortage of food and
essential materials. NGOs came forward, and seeing this difficult situation, distributed food kits to these poor people living in slum and rural areas. Vegetables and fruits were also distributed as per requirement,
particularly during their festival days.

Youth Engagement Camp (Child Camp)

A Mehndi and Rangoli camp for girls and a sports competition for boys were arranged in the slum area. The camp was monitored under the guidance of experts for Mehndi, Rangoli, and sports. There was a tremendous response. Finally, sweets and breakfast were given to those who participated and performed well.
Drinking Water Supply and Management During Summer
This summer has been extremely hot, with temperatures reaching 45 degrees Celsius. The water table has dropped significantly, especially in rural areas of Nagpur. Men, women, animals, and birds are struggling to find drinking water and are sourcing it wherever possible.
As every year, SPMN has made special arrangements to supply drinking water to the entire Hanuman Nagar and Bharatwada slum from a borewell. A dedicated person has been appointed to manage the water supply. Water is provided for three hours every evening. Cement tubs for animals and water vessels for birds are regularly filled to ensure their hydration.

Cultural Event

The traditional culture of our society is gradually disappearing among the younger generation. It is our heritage and must be protected and kept alive. Every year, the NGO organizes a cultural camp where artists from Nagpur city and rural areas are invited. Around 200 to 250 participants are selected to practice during the camp. Finally, they are given a platform to perform cultural programs. Outstanding performers often get exposure at the state or national level.
This program is held annually at Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Sabhagrah, Reshimbag, in collaboration with Damini Creation.
Education Support
SPMN places special emphasis on education, particularly supporting meritorious and talented girls who face challenging circumstances. These girls are adopted and supported through their educational journey until they achieve their goals.
This year, Asma Khan from Yavatmal, studying at the Indian Institute of Science and Research, Chandigarh; Priti, pursuing D.Ed. in Godhni, Nagpur; Baby Asma, attending an English medium school in Kamptee; and Ananya, studying at Ursula, Nagpur, have been supported with admission fees and mess expenses.

Eye Camp (Education Support)

NGO organizes an eye camp every year based on community needs. Eye check-ups are conducted, and glasses are provided to patients who require them. For further treatment, patients may be referred to higher-level hospitals. Some financially needy patients receive assistance with their treatment costs, which are paid directly to the hospital on their behalf.
Zulekha from Umarkhed, Arif Khan from Nagpur, and Abeda from Anant Nagar are among the beneficiaries of this program.
Promoting Organic Farming Among Farmers
SPMN encourages farmers to adopt organic farming practices. It is a challenging task because many farmers are reluctant to switch to organic methods. Our team is making strong efforts to persuade farmers to embrace organic farming. They organize camps, demonstrations, and even use projector slides to educate and motivate them.

Empowering Economically Weaker Sections Through Skill Development

In today’s computer era, skilled workers are in demand. Our organization supports women and youth from economically weaker backgrounds to increase their income and improve their livelihood. A three-day training camp was organized for women in different areas. Sewing machines were distributed to trainees upon completion of the training.
Educated but unemployed girls were provided with a six-month vocational digital online training program. After completing the training, certificates were awarded. They then became eligible for positions such as Balwadi, Anganwadi, Montessori teacher, and reporter.
Supporting Mass Marriages to Promote Social Equality
The NGO promotes the idea of mass marriages in society to discourage division between rich and poor. This approach addresses the urgent need to reduce unnecessary expenses involved in elaborate wedding ceremonies. Our efforts to raise awareness about this idea will continue until it becomes widely accepted.
Currently, we provide support of Rs. 10,000 per girl’s marriage in the form of materials, after verifying the authenticity of the marriage. A total of 5 to 6 beneficiaries have benefited from this program so far.
